1. Creativity
As communication majors, we always have to be thinking on our feet. Our advertising and social media posts can be influenced by traveling because we have the chance to experience other ways of life and points of view.

2. Communication
We all know how to talk, but we don’t always speak the same language. Traveling tests our communication skills, pushing us to find new ways to interact. By traveling, we learn how to communicate with those who are different from us once we get in the workplace.

3. Writing
By traveling you will gain a new perspective on things you may not have paid any attention to before, such as fashion of people close to the ocean. This can inspire your writing, bringing it to a new level. Anything you write will be touched by your experiences, including blog posts or social media writing.

4. Social Skills
We all know that in our future careers, whether it’s at a non-profit, a PR firm, or an advertising firm, communication majors need to know how to socialize with fellow employees and clients. When you’re traveling to a new place, you don’t necessarily know any one. You are then in a situation where you will need to interact with strangers to ask directions, order food, or just make friends. Your social skills have no choice but to develop!

5. Employment Prospective
By having the ability to communicate across cultures, your personal brand will mean even more. Your travels show that you can be independent, are willing to be placed in a situation full of unknowns, and have the ability to see different perspectives. It also widens your career options by helping you to feel more comfortable with moving away from the area you know.
